ClariNet Educational Discount:
ClariNet offers the following prices for a full campus-wide site licence
for all our current publications. Schools are broken up into several
classes, based on full-time enrollment (grad and undergrad). The prices
for each class are:
Class Enrollment Monthly Cost
K12 School $49
Small < 5,000 $195
Medium 5,000 - 20,000 $395
Large 20,000 - 50,000 $695
Jumbo 50,000 and up $995
Borderline cases (such as 20,000) are decided based on how heavily
networked the school is. Schools with lots of people using networks go
into the larger class, others go into the smaller class.
In exchange for this special price, schools are asked to feed a small
number of other sites upon request from ClariNet. In general, we ask
that the school be willing to offer a ClariNet feed to a ClariNet customer
under the same conditions that it would offer a USENET feed to another site.
No feeding discount is available for this.
The amount can be billed for any term, from monthly to annually.
The school gets an unlimited licence to use and archive the material on
its computers, although granting free access to members of the general public
is not permitted. The same terms of the general ClariNet licence apply.
In particular, one campus use that's not permitted is use by the school's
newspapers, radio or TV stations. The school of journalism needs special
permission and has to pay an extra fee to use the material.
The library may build an archive, and offer full-text searches of the
material, however Reuters material can only be kept 7 days and AP material
only 21 days.
